On Election Day, citizens voted for new political reform and new leaders in the government office.
The following people will be the political representatives supporting our ideas as us, the students of Carlmont, become adults. Although the students did not have a say in who was elected this term, the same people will be running for our ideas as we gain more say in our community. It is important for students to understand what people will exactly be representing our state in our political future.
The new governor of California will be Jerry Brown after defeating Meg Whitman in the polls. He has been involved with the California communities previous but decided to run once again after 28 years. Brown was governor back in 1975-1983. As California has elected a democrat, they defy the overflow of Republicans elected this year throughout America.
In the Senate seat, Barbara Boxer has been chosen once again to represent California. This will be Boxer’s fourth term as Senator. During this 2010 Election run, Boxer struggled against muti-million ads against her in competition with opponent Carly Fiorina. The polls were close with Boxer at 52% support over 48% for Fiornia.
